Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Talia Salem has more than a dozen years of experience in tourism, destination marketing, and content strategy working in communities around the world. She currently works at Marriott International as Editorial Strategist for Marriott Bonvoy Traveler, Marriott's official content marketing platform Prior to Marriott, she ran her own marketing and tourism consulting firm, The Urban Nomad and has worked with such clients as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Virginia Tech, the World Bank, George Washington University's International Institute of Tourism Studies, Charlottesville & Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Center for Responsible Travel (CREST), A2B Consulting, and Akwesasne Travel. Talia also serves as a board member for Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. Talia also teaches for George Washington University's International Institute of Tourism Studies. Prior to consulting, she worked as Manager of Social & Content for Brand USA, the USA's official destination marketing organization and public-private partnership dedicated to increasing international visitation to the United States. During her tenure, Talia directed the global content strategy for the brand's 15-country digital presence. She also managed the development of Brand USA's new consumer websites VisitTheUSA.com in seven languages and shaped the visual and content strategy. Talia launched the multichannel content and influencer campaign Great American Road Trips and was instrumental in the launches of the Flavors of the USA and Great Outdoors campaigns. Furthermore, she also taught Digital Marketing and Distribution in Georgetown's Masters in Global Hospitality Leadership Program. A California native, she grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where she currently lives with her husband and two kids, but has lived around the world. Talia is fluent in English, French, and Arabic. Talia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and French from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), as well as a Master's degree in Sustainable Tourism Destination Management from The George Washington University. Talia's work has been recognized by various organizations, and she was awarded George Washington University's Master of Tourism Administration Outstanding Alumni Award in 2019.
