Richard McGill Murphy is the editor in chief on ServiceNow’s global thought leadership team. A journalist and social anthropologist by background, he runs a research and publishing program that covers emerging tech and business strategy trends for an audience of business leaders. Earlier in his career, Richard was a contributing editor at Fortune magazine and the editor in chief of Fortune Small Business. During his journalism career he covered business, tech, global affairs and lifestyle for many outlets, including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Town&Country and VH1. Richard studied literature at Harvard College. He earned a doctorate in social anthropology from Oxford University based on fieldwork in Pakistan, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
