In 1970, Gil Scott-Heron released a single that would go down as an anthem of grassroots movements, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. It’s the perfect theme song for what organizations are going through. In the blink of an eye, unknown and inexperienced insurgent forces are coming from out of nowhere to topple the establishment. Market leaders are surrendering share. Corporate institutions are being overthrown. Legends are falling.

This radical change has been defined as “disruption.” It’s not disruption. It’s a coup.

Anti-establishment forces are not only armed with VC funding, hoodie-wearing app developers, and free food in the cafeteria. They have content. And they’re using it to take you down.

So what do you do?

Well, there’s an assumption that you’re either David or Goliath. That’s wrong. You can be both. You can stick it to the (wo)man even if you are the (wo)man. You, too, can use content as an internal tool to drive organizational change, and as an external tool to solidify your position in the market.

The revolution will not be televised. But during this insightful and humorous keynote address, it certainly will be planned. Light your torches. Get ready to storm the castle. We go at midnight (or whatever time we’re allotted in the CMW schedule).
