When marketers think of inclusive marketing, we often consider a mix of racial, gender, ages, or cultural backgrounds. Sadly, the disability community - the largest underrepresented group in the globe according to the World Health Organization - is often overlooked in our marketing. Or worse, non-disabled talent is called in to play a person with a disability. Both in front of the audience and behind the scenes, disability representation enhances team output - creating multidimensional and intersectional stories that delight and inspire. In this session we'll touch on the barriers, the benefits, and come away with some actionable opportunities to be more disability inclusive.

Takeaway

  • Incorporate disability representation authentically into your marketing strategies.
  • Identify and eliminate harmful stereotypes and tropes in your marketing campaigns.
  • Actively seek out and recruit talented individuals with disabilities to diversify your workforce.
  • Implement strategies to make a positive impact on disability inclusion on a larger scale.
